STUDENTS OF THE PREPARATORY DEPARTMENT GET ACQUAINTED WITH THE HISTORY OF COSMONAUTICS

April 12 is an important date in the history of all mankind. On this day 61 years ago, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin was the first in the world to successfully fly into space. A cultural event dedicated to this event was held at the Department of Russian Language - a linguistic and cultural lesson "April 12 – Cosmonautics Day". Foreign students of the preparatory department from Egypt, Israel, India, Iraq, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan got acquainted with an important event that marked the beginning of human space flights.
Assistants of the Department of Russian Language N.Y. Gribovskaya and M.N. Pavlova told about the stages of the development of world cosmonautics, introduced to the listeners the history of the creation of aircraft. The students learned the names of the discoverers of space, scientists and designers who took part in the creation of spacecraft. The students were greatly interested in the footage of the historical chronicle, which depicted the launch of the Vostok-1 spacecraft with the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on board. After getting acquainted with the theory, the guys moved on to consolidate their knowledge. The practical part of the lesson was held in a very fascinating way. All participants were divided into two teams, "Cosmonauts" and "Aliens", and competed in who knows the history of cosmonautics better, answering questions from teachers.
The event "April 12 – Cosmonautics Day" contributed to the formation of general cultural competencies of foreign students, their socio-cultural adaptation and improvement of the level of proficiency in Russian language. |
